Potato aphids are large-bodied aphids that come in green or pink forms and feed on a wide range of crops—including potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and greenhouse ornamentals. Though adults are more visible, it’s the nymphs that often go unnoticed while doing the most damage—piercing plant tissue and draining sap from new growth.
In this time-lapse, a potato aphid nymph is killed in just 42 seconds after being sprayed with Protection Plus. These young aphids are soft-bodied and highly vulnerable when directly contacted with a fine mist application.
Protection Plus is a contact killer—it must make physical contact with the insect to be effective. It does not kill instantly. Kill time varies depending on:
• Coverage quality
• Pest biology, including surface coating and life stage
Mode of Action:
Protection Plus dissolves the nymph’s outer layer, leading to dehydration and suffocation. It’s oil-free, residue-free, and safe for food crops, ornamentals, and seedlings—with zero-hour REI and zero-day PHI.
Why Early-Stage Control Matters:
• Nymphs multiply rapidly and feed aggressively
• Colonies can overwhelm new growth in days
• Their honeydew attracts ants and leads to sooty mold, blocking photosynthesis
• Early intervention breaks the reproductive cycle and reduces virus transmission risk
Common Host Plants:
• Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers
• Lettuce, spinach, and cole crops
• Roses, mums, and greenhouse ornamentals
• Cannabis and other high-value greenhouse crops
