"Force Without Distinction: Revolutionary America's Raid on Johnstown"...
Another snowy 250th commemoration, and another powerful reminder of the tension and uncertainty that gripped the Mohawk Valley in January of 1776. Recreating the moment when Revolutionary forces descended on Johnstown to disarm and arrest those accused of Loyalist sympathies brought the past into sharp focus. Some of those men would spend the winter under strict parole, watched closely by their neighbors. Others were marched to Albany or sent out of the colony entirely — separated from home, family, and everything familiar. It’s a dramatic chapter of the Revolution, and standing in the snow as it unfolded again made that history feel immediate and human.
And as always, it was a privilege to be at Johnson Hall State Historic Site— one of New York’s finest. Few places offer such an authentic sense of place, and few communities welcome living historians with such enthusiasm. Participating there never feels like just another event; it feels like honoring a legacy.
His Majesty's 24th Foot interprets the regiment's service during the American War for Independence, primarily during John Burgoyne's Campaign of 1777 as a member of the elite Advanced Corps.
We are committed to accurately portraying the regiment's officers and men at living history events and reenactments.
