March 6 - 12th is Glaucoma week. World Glaucoma Week is a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) in order to raise awareness of glaucoma.

Glaucoma is an optic nerve disorder of the eye. This results in irreversible vision loss. An increase in eye pressure can compress the optic nerve which connects the eye to the brain. This compression leads to the death of optic nerve cells leading to glaucoma.

A simple eye checkup can help diagnose the disease.
