In 2018, IFN TV's Ndume Green made this hectic trip of driving from Ghana's capital Accra to the Nigerian commercial hub of Lagos. His aim was to find out what road users went through in traveling through West Africa's busiest route. The journey brought him face to face with some of the most confrontational encounters yet in my career as a journalist.
One year later, Issues of bribery and illegal extortion still appear to be the most dominant among daily users of the Accra to Lagos flank of the ECOWAS route. A year later, nothing has changed despite improved borders aimed at easing movement of persons and trade along the route. This is the same challenge whether in Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria.
