19 TET - Onion Floe

Описание: I made this tune some months ago while I was experimenting with alternative equal tempered tunings.
19-TET, 19 equal temperament, 19-EDO or 19-ET is a tuning system derived from dividing the octave in 19 equal steps. It archives a good compromise solution between being an equal temperament, having a relatively small amount of notes per octave and having a small deviation from perfect tuning.
19-TET fifth isn’t quite as tuned as 12-TET’s, although its third is better than in 12-TET, thirds are a more “elastic“ interval so this isn't as bad, in conclusion I think 12-TET is better for everyday use.
I was going for an impressionist music aesthetic, having layers of different textures that overlap, like Philip glass (that's were the name comes from)
If you want to know how to make your own 19-TET music electronically, using freeware: you can make a tuning file using Scala (.scl file) and then use it to re-tune your favorite sampler like Sforzando for example. Alternatively there are re-tuner plugins that re-tune midi notes via pitch wheel based on a .scl file. There are other methods as well, research! or you could own a microtonal guitar and play Ivor Darreg's music all day long.
