In our last video we discussed the last of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which is to Sharpen the Saw. This habit revolves around the concepts of self-development, continual improvement and renewal.

Today I'd like to share a quote with you that embodies this habit. There is an anonymous quote that I first saw many years ago and it really resonated with me. That quote is, "Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."

Regardless of the actual source of the quote, the meaning still holds true, and it fits perfectly with Dr. Covey's final habit, which is to Sharpen the Saw.

Too many of us get so caught up in the day-to-day activities of trying to get more done that we don't take the time to dream, design and create the life we truly want. We wear our busyness like a badge of honor. We use "not enough time in the day" as an excuse for not doing the things we know we need to be doing, like exercising, goal setting, relaxing, socializing or feeding our mind and spirit.

How often have you said something like, "Yeah, I'm planning to do that, once I can find the time." Well, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Time is not something you find. You have to make time for the things that are truly important to you. Until you make something a priority in your life, you will never "find" the time to do it.
