there's a very long strip of restaurants turning left out of Santa Lucia station, which are a must to visit. Vaporetto terminals are right in front, as are private hire motoscafi, which require a booking.
I highly recommend taking either of these boat services at dusk, simply for a cruise around the main venice routes. The Vaporetto is obviously the cheaper way to do it, but there's no guarantee of a seat.
