This is a small compilation of some of my falls throughout this year, 2022. I hope I have as many next year.
I guess going climbing for me could also mean I'm going falling... I love the red-pointing process, grinding out progress metre by metre, sequence by sequence. Getting fitter and stronger whilst trying a route, thinking about the moves away from the climb. Falling asleep visualising the crux holds and coming up with ever more elaborate beta, which is often ridiculous, impossible and not helpful. Then, as you get closer it turns into a mental battle, you know can you do it but you still have to do it. Throughout all of this, you are falling, over and over again. Until that one time, you float through the crux and clip the anchor, you capture a moment of magic. Back on the ground, I'm already excited for the next line to start it all over again.
You need to be OK with failing to maybe one day be good at climbing
