How to Make Bias Tape the EASY Way! Perfect for Fabric Face Masks!

Описание: Create yards of bias tape with 1 square piece of fabric! This tutorial pairs perfectly with my DIY How to Sew a Bias Tape Surgical Mask if you've run out of bias tape!

If you've run out of bias tape, use this tutorial to make your own from home!

Step 1. Precut fabric into a square. The larger the square, the longer each strip of bias tape will be.

I used a 22" x 22" square in this tutorial.

Step 2. Grab the bottom left-hand corner with and pull it upwards to meet the top right-hand corner.

-Bring the bottom right-hand corner upwards to meet the top left corner.

-Grab the top left corner and bottom corner and fold upwards matching folded edges along the right-hand side together.

-Turn the fabric so the folded right-hand edge is vertical on your cutting mat.

Step 3. Trim off the folded edge of the bias tape using a rotary cutter and clear acrylic ruler.

Step 4. Cut the remaining fabric into 2" strips to create 1/2" double-fold bias tape.

Step 5. Lay two strips of fabric out in front of you creating a right angle. The right sides of fabric should be facing each other. With a ruler, mark the seam line with a 45-degree angle. Pin the two fabrics together and sew down the marking.
Repeat this process as many times as desired to make a longer strip of bias tape.

Step 6. Trim away the excess fabric after sewing.

Step 7. Press the seam allowances open

Step 8. At the end of the strip of bias tape, fold both sides of the fabric to the middle and press.

Step 9. Create a bias tape binding guide by using sewing pins pinned vertically to an ironing board to guide the fabric. The pins should be placed as close as possible to the top and bottom of the fabric.

Gently pull on the fabric to help it through the guide, then press with a hot iron and steam.

Step 10. Once you've completed this step with the entire length of bias tape, fold the bias tape in half and press again with a smaller pin guide.
