Ceuta Border Crisis: Lone Migrant Flees Spanish Police After Mass Crossing

Описание: A dramatic scene unfolded at Ceuta's Tarajal Beach as a lone migrant swam ashore and fled Spanish police following one of the largest migrant surges ever recorded at the Spain-Morocco border.

Video from the scene shows the barefoot migrant running into the city before jumping back over the railings onto the shoreline in an attempt to evade officers. Police later searched the beach while workers cleared abandoned life jackets and inflatable buoys left behind after thousands attempted the dangerous crossing.

Spanish authorities say around 50,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta from Morocco by land and sea within days, making it one of the biggest migration crises to hit the European Union's external border. More than 48,000 migrants have since returned to Morocco, while officials report that at least 67 people have died during the crossings after drowning or being crushed near the border barriers.
