In this episode of the urban debate, Heena Gambhir will discuss the ongoing debate over a warning from the government to cab aggregators, including Ola and Uber of taking strict action unless they improve their systems and redress rising consumer complaints. The government held a meeting on Tuesday with the ride-hailing platforms amid a rise in consumer complaints of alleged unfair trade practices by them, including ride cancellation policy, as drivers force customers to cancel trips after accepting bookings, which results in customers paying cancellation penalties. We are joined by expert guests to share their views on this. "Why do they have to wait for consumer complaints? Why can't they make a policy which protects consumers?" says Prof Bejon Kumar Misra, Consumer Rights Activist. "The consumer interaction with the service provider is at a micro-level," says Dr Ajay Dua, Former Secretary, Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
