Tyler Cavanaugh emerged as the hero for Bahcesehir as the Turkish side reached its second successive EuroCup Semifinals with a dramatic home win over Cluj. Cavanaugh drained a three-pointer and then a pair of free throws to overhaul a 70-71 deficit in the home stretch of a titanic tussle, with the visitors turning the tide in the fourth quarter before the hosts forced the final twist.
Bahcesehir, which dominated the boards as it racked up a staggering 50 rebounds, will meet either crosstown rival Besiktas or Italian outfit Trento in a best-of-three series for a berth in the final.
Malachai Flynn paced the home team on 16 points and 10 boards while Trevion Williams also posted a double-double of 11 and 16. Balsa Koprivica poured in 12 points and Cavanaugh netted 10 to go with 5 rebounds. At the other end, Daron Russel led Cluj on a game-high 23 points while Nighael Ceaser amassed 12 points and 10 boards but missed a crucial free throw, which ultimately cost the Romanian outfit.
