The immigrant population of San Luis Obispo County is integral to the county’s economy, social fabric, and cultural diversity. Comprising more than 10% of our population and working in all sectors of our economy, they contribute to the well-being of our community and its prosperity. Addressing their unique challenges—particularly in housing, healthcare, education, and economic security—is essential to fostering an inclusive and resilient community.
Our panel will discuss the current challenges facing this community including disenfranchisement, threats of incarceration and deportation, and diminished access to social services including healthcare. They will provide information on the steps being taken to help this community and what needs to be done.
