Who can remember when a visit to the theatre meant seeing the majestic grand theatre pipe organ sounding but unseen.
Then as if by magic it starts appearing up from the organ pit in all its glory.
Sadly many major theatres sold these magnificent creations and converted theatres to the boutique ‘six pack’ where the grand theatre experience of old has gone- replaced by online tickets, cold clinical theatre foyers devoid of ambience and exciting atmosphere and near empty micro theatres where starting times mean no boarding is with endless ads before the feature movie.
In the early days we’d be given a musical feast of theatre pipe organ music by talented organists- instead of trailers and forgettable ads.
