Описание: How much is enough? Our scripture readings from Exodus and Matthew explore that profound and challenging question. God had performed great miracles to allow the Israelites to be freed from slavery and to flee from the pursuing Egyptian army. Yet, no sooner than they were in safe territory, they began to complain. God tested the Israelites in the wilderness, but at the same time, he gave them what they needed so they would not be dependent on Pharaoh, the archetype of a worldly oppressor. Jesus tested his disciples’ understanding by challenging them, as he did with the parable of the Day Laborers. The kingdom of God turns worldly values upside down. We struggle to find our balance.
