British Film Logos (1908-50)

This compilation focuses on the many on-screen logos for British film production companies from 1908 until 1950, ranging from the well-known studios of Gainsborough and Rank to the bygone companies of Hepworth and Neptune Films, as well as focusing on a minority of home media formats like Pathéscope and Gaumont British Movie Paks. I will not look at logos that derive from newsreels, some examples of which are Topical Budget, Pathegrams, British Movietone and Gaumont British News. There are a couple of variations of logos in this video, most of which come from well-known companies like Gainsborough, London Films and Two Cities Films, but I chose not to include every variant because some of them show little to no difference from preceding variants (e.g. Gainsborough Pictures logo from 1931-47; the later versions show the text in a different font, but the opening retains the same footage from the late 1930s... check out    • Gainsborough Pictures Logo History   and    • London Films Logo History   if you want to see more variants).
After the success of my    • Logos Between 1895-1950   video in June 2016 (which was completed in December 2015), I had an idea of documenting vintage British film logos for a future video, but I never got around to finalising it until last month, which is the result here. I'm not sure about doing a sequel to this compilation (a la Logos Between 1951-2016) because of time constraints, and that would be more likely to be updated several times over the years compared to this video.
My next video will be a logo history on Producers Releasing Corporation, which will also feature Eagle Lion Films (related to Eagle Lion Distributors).
