Meaning and main characteristics of Darshan:

The English word for 'darshan' is philosophy which itself originated from two Greek words ‘Philo' means love and ‘Sophia' means wisdom or knowledge.
In this sense, the meaning of philosophy is love of wisdom or knowledge.
Philosophy (from Greek philosophia, literally "love of wisdom") is the study of general and fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. In one general sense, philosophy is associated with wisdom, intellectual culture, and a search for knowledge. In this sense, all cultures and literate societies ask philosophical questions, such as "how are we to live" and "what is the nature of reality."
