In this video we make funky, syncopated hihats in Ableton Live. You'll recognise this style of hihats from artsits like Tale of Us, Maceo Plex, Recondite, Agents of Time, all those deep house/deep techno artists.
We show the secret sauce behind such a hihat line, which comes down to:
Creating a 16th note hihat pattern using whitenoise
Applying simple groove to it
Applying "funky" groove to it
Setting up macro controls to control its expression
