In the fall red buckeye seeds spilt open from their seed shells and are ready for gathering. The red buckeye seeds need to be sown within a week of harvesting or cold stratified for spring planting. In this video I'm gathering and planting the red buckeye seeds to growing new plants for our land. (Aesculus pavia)
Red buckeye are excellent for attracting hummingbirds naturally! Their flowers are perfect for a hummingbird's long beak.
Red buckeye should be planted in a semi-shady location, dappled shade is perfect.
