Описание: אנחנו נמדדות לפי תוצרים. עלינו להציג תוצאות סופיות וארוזות יפה, שמדחיקות את התהליך שקדם להן ושוללות את העניין הנרטיבי שכרוך בו. העבודה עצמה היא בלתי נראית ושכרה אינו בצדה אלא רק בסופה. כאלו הן העבודות הקשורות בתחזוקת הבית; כאלו הן העבודות אשר מסדירות את יחסי הכוחות ומנרמלות את החברה; וכאלו הן גם עבודות האמנות.
בתוך עולם של מוצרי תרבות קבועים מראש ומובנים מאליהם, עבודת האמנות מציגה את עצמה כחגיגה טבעית, כהגחה קסומה ופלאית של מוצר מוגמר שראוי לשאוף אליו, אשר מתקיים במרחב מיוחד שמנותק, לכאורה, מהיומיום הכלכלי והפוליטי. הסיזיפיות הקשורה במעשה האמנות מועלמת, או לכל היותר עוברת רומנטיזציה, ועבודת האמנות מוגשת למשתמש כאירוע חגיגי שנתון בתוך אריזה של משמעות-מוכנה-מראש.
בעבודתה מבקשת אשל לאתגר את המובנים לכאורה הללו ולבחון את הצומת שבו נפגשים האירוע, החגיגה והעבודה באמצעות פירוק הקודים, ההיתרים והאיסורים שמוטבעים במעשה האמנותי כשהוא מוצג כמוצר תרבות מובן מאליו.

We are gauged by our results - our end-products. We ought to present final, nicely-packaged results, that represses the process that preceded their existence and negates the narrative that it involves. The work itself is invisible, payment is on delivery. Such are household chores; such are the tasks that regulate social power relations and normalize society; and such are the works of art. In a world of ordinary ready-made cultural products, the work of art presents itself as a natural party, as a magical wonderful eruption of a finished product, belonging to a special sphere allegedly disconnected from the everyday economical-political order. The sisyphean aspect involved in art work disappears, or is at best romanticized, and the work of art is presented to its user as a festive event packed with a ready-made-meaning.
In her work, Eshel asks to challenge these alleged meanings and inspect the intersections between the event, the party and the work through the deconstruction of the codes, the permits and the prohibitions that are inherent to the art work when presented as an ordinary cultural product.
