In November 2016, after the group of heavy Russian warships, including heavy aircraft battlecruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, arrived to the Syrian coast, Russian armed forces started massive strikes against ISIS millitants in Syria. They used carrier based aircrafts Su-33, Bastion-P missile system and one of the newest Russian frigate, Admiral Grigororvich, which launched several cruise missiles such as Kalibr and P-800 Onyx.
Moreover, two Tu-95MS strategic bombers covered with Su-30SMs jet fighters were participating on it as well. They travelled more than 11 000 kilometers from their airbases in Russia with two aerial refueling and lauched missiles on terrorist facilities.
Missiles destroyed terrorist infrastructure such as training centres, weapon storages, devices for pruduction of poisons and killed numerous of ISIS millitants.
