आषाढ़ शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को देवशयनी एकादशी (Devshayani Ekadashi) कहते हैं. मान्यता है कि इसी दिन से भगवान विष्णु (Lord Vishnu) गहन निद्रा में चले जाते हैं. और फिर प्रबोधिनी एकादशी के दिन गहन निद्रा से बाहर आते हैं. इसीलिए इसे देवशयनी एकादशी कहते हैं. इस वर्ष देवशयनी एकादशी 12 जुलाई 2019 को पड़ रही है. 13 जुलाई को पारण यानी उपवास तोड़ने का दिन है. पौराणिक ग्रंथों के अनुसार देवशयनी एकादशी को ‘पद्मा एकादशी’, ‘आषाढ़ी एकादशी’ और’ हरिशयनी एकादशी’ भी कहते हैं. सभी का आशय एक ही है.
