Angkor Wat is Cambodia's national symbol and Lonely Planet describes it as "one of the most inspired monuments ever conceived by the human mind." I have to agree!

Angkor Wat has been in nearly continuous service since it was built and as a result, was never abandoned to the elements like some of the other temples

If you only have time for one or two temples, make sure its this one!

Tip for travelling to Angkor Wat with young kids - The Angkor Wat temple is HUGE, make sure you visit this one in the morning otherwise little legs will be too tired to walk.....or be prepared to carry them.
