I am back out stomping, and this time I am joined by Phil and Steve, in Wirksworth, Derbyshire.

We are here to explore 'Dream mine' or 'Dream Cavern', a former lead mine with an incredible history.

In 1822, local lead miners were sinking a shaft in search of lead and accidentally broke through into a natural cavern deep underground.

Inside, they found the perfectly preserved skeleton of a 17,000 year old woolly rhinoceros. The find, along with the remains of other prehistoric mammals, was so huge, that the bones were taken to Oxford to be studied and then eventually displayed.

'Wirksworth's best kept secret' is now back in Derbyshire where it belongs, and can be found at the local heritage centre.
