Description: The whitebarred Goby is a benthic species recognised for its elongated body with a pale base colouration and distinct vertical white and brown bars running along its sides. It is a burrow-dwelling species commonly found in sandy or rubble habitats near coral reefs and lagoons. The goby uses its fins to sift through sand for food. Often seen in pairs, it is critical in maintaining sediment turnover and reef ecosystem health.
Size: Length up to 15 cm (maximum)
Diet: Benthic invertebrates, detritus
