Meshay Melendez and her 7 year old daughter, Layla Stewart were reported missing on March 18th, 2023 when her mom and other family members were unable to reach her for over a week. She had a pending domestic violence case against her ex-boyfriend which made her family worried and suspicious of her ex. Police searched the ex-boyfriend's home and car but were still unable to get any clues about Meshay and Layla’s location. On March 22nd, her family received the most horrible news they could ever receive. A man walking his dog stumbled upon two bodies. Due to genetic markings on the bodies, authorities suspect that it is the bodies of Meshay and her daughter Layla. Meshay’s ex-boyfriend is a person of interest in this case.
