On January 27 this year, famous toothpaste brand Sensodyne was asked to remove and stop some of its advertisements on Indian TV, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Some of Sensodyne’s ads showed UK-based dentists recommending Sensodyne products to the public. This was a violation of the Indian law that bans dentists practising in India from endorsing any drug or product publically, under the Revised Dentists (Code Of Ethics) Regulations 2014. In order to escape this law, Sensodyne very cleverly showed United Kingdom based Dentists recommending their products in India.
This is an example of how companies try to mislead consumers and adopt unfair trade practices, very cleverly trying to make use of some loopholes in law or like Sensodyne, escape from it. This is a video where we will see more such examples of companies trying to mislead their consumers and the effects it has on you, sometimes on your health too.
