This RTS subgenre I just described has been growing even before They are Billions came out in 2017, but has certainly exploded in popularity since then, including Diplomacy is not an Option, Here Comes the Swarm, Age of Darkness: Final Stand and upcoming games like Repterra and Dawn of Defense.
