The video is aimed to help the learners understand the concept of condition checking using CASE ... OF ... OTHERWISE ... ENDCASE.
Assalam alikum, children. I hope everyone is well. Today, we're diving into the topic of conditional statements, specifically "case of otherwise" end"case." This material is covered in chapters 7 and 8. Recall our previous learning about conditional statements, where we introduced the concept under the heading of conditional statements. Now, we'll delve into the details.
A conditional statement becomes crucial when faced with different situations or options. The algorithm uses a conditional statement to determine the actions to be taken based on a set number of conditions. There are two types: "if then else" for situations with two options (true or false), and "case of otherwise in case" for scenarios with more than two options.
Let's quickly recap "if then else" using a simple example involving age. Now, let's shift our focus to "case of otherwise" and "case." In case of otherwise, we handle choices between several values or options. It is essential to understand this concept as it may be questioned in exams.
A case statement involves deciding the path based on the value of a variable. The syntax includes options labeled from 1 to n, where n represents the maximum number of options. The "otherwise" statement is used when none of the options meet the criteria. The case statement concludes with "end case."
We practiced examples together, like determining grades (A, B, C) and performing operations based on a choice variable (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Now, we applied the knowledge to a practical activity: using a case statement to display the day of the week based on a numerical value between 1 and 7. The syntax was clear, and you all did well.
Moving on to a more complex example involving input numbers, a sign, and conditional statements. We traced the algorithm's execution for various inputs, demonstrating how the program evaluates and produces outputs.
Lastly, we explored how to improve the algorithm by incorporating a case statement for sign checking, making the code more concise and efficient.
