A short clip of taking my Vespa 1979 P200E from Indiana into Illinois using the Wabash Cannonball Bridge. The bridge is an unusual historic bridge that once was built and used for railroad traffic. The bridge had been sold to a private owner in 1970 who did minimal changes other than charged access to private vehicle traffic. The bridge then was sold to the local town of St. Francisville in 1995 and then to the State of Illinois in 2009.
There has been a minimum amount of maintenance or change to bridge; you could say it's fairly unchanged since it was built other than change in the user. The middle section of the bridge once swung parallel with the Wabash River to allow boat traffic to move up and down the Wabash.
Driving across this bridge is a rare opportunity in North America to experience crossing a bridge that is in excess of 1000 feet yet is only one lane. Other than having to carefully look to check and make sure that any traffic seen at the other end has begun to cross the bridge, crossing this bridge can be a very fun experience.
