Louisiana Overland Adventure Trail (LOAT)
Great for Overland vehicles and ADV/Dual Sport motorcycles: The LOAT is a set of suggested routes for exploring our great state. It strategically connects all 5 Sections of the Kisatchie NF by way of rural roads. Many of them being dirt/gravel and improved blacktop parish roads. Opting to avoid highways where possible. Each section provides waypoints for unique points of interest, as well as, fuel, food, camping, and lodging options. Giving you the best tools to plan out your own adventures. The route is over 1200 miles with highlights that include Wolf Rock Cave, Long Leaf Vista lookout, multiple museums like Bonnie & Clyde, WWII and Civil War Museums, 3 State Parks and so much more. Also, there are multiple camp sites to enjoy and primitive camping is allowed in some cases (please check the KNF website for details). We are always striving to add more trails.
