Jagannatha -- The lord of the universe, the main deity. One of the avatars of Krishna, the all-pervading lord god.

Jagannatha is worshipped along with his brother Balarama and sister Subhadra in the form of statues made of wood.

The center of the Jagannatha cult is the temple at Puri in Orissa, where once a year during the Ratha-yatra festival, statues of the deities are taken outside in large decorated chariots.

This festival is also celebrated in many other cities in India and beyond.

The city of Jagannatha Puri has the largest kitchen in the world where Maha Prasad is prepared daily for all the devotees living in the city and its visitors.

All life in Puri revolves around this temple, the most important deity in the universe. Jai Jagannatha!
