NCETM
The National Centre for Excellence in Mathematics (NCETM) aims to raise levels of achievement in maths across all schools and colleges in England. Our primary channel of support is through the Maths Hubs Programme, which we lead and coordinate.
There are 40 Maths Hubs covering the whole of England. Teachers and leaders in all state-funded schools and colleges can access support from their local hub. This includes Early Years practitioners, primary teachers, secondary maths teachers including non-specialists, and teaching assistants.
Our specific task is to ensure that all teachers of maths have access to high quality, maths-specific continuing professional development (CPD). This CPD takes various forms and is predominantly underpinned by the principles of teaching for mastery – an approach to the teaching and learning of maths which promotes a belief that everyone can do maths, and focuses on no child being left behind.
