The Tai Chi Code
The Tai Chi Code is a movement system created by Dr. Todd Martin. It correlates specific combinations of core movement with the 8 fundamental energies of Tai Chi and the 8 Tai Chi Trigrams. This is a novel approach to understanding Tai Chi movement at a mechanical level. After years of practice, I am 100% confident that these core movement patterns correlate with the 8 Energies, and can be used to enhance understanding of Form practice. There will be an initial lesson focused on demonstration and basics. A second lesson will look at the specific core movements using my Direction, Root, Power System. Direction refers to the rotation of the upper waist muscles that control which direction we move. Root refers to the rotation of the lower abdominal muscles which root the leg and create grounding. Power refers to the power coming from the hips that powers each movement. Power can be either hip extension or hip flexion.
