Still Life - art, painting, photography
This channel interrogates the still image. There are great paintings and great photographs, but what distinguishes them from the rest? The answer is not always obvious, and no, it's not entirely subjective. Visual language is one that needs to be learnt, like any other language, it has its own syntax and grammar. Without knowing some basics the spectator is often left simply with a 'like' or 'don't like' response. Visual art is an unfathomably rich and nuanced field. At it's best it's a type of philosophy, a type of poetry and so much more. Let's get into it...
