My One Minute Book Reviews

I'm always asked "How do you read so many books?". Well, its a gift and a curse. Some years back I had a stroke and among other things, my ability to read, speak, and remember were affected. My short term memory is terrible. For years I couldn't read a book at all. If I try to read 'normally', the words on the page are overwhelming, its all just a jumble and no matter how many times I read the same paragraph over and over, it makes no sense to me. So now I 'skip read'. I cast my eyes quickly down the page, skimming and picking up the important words and suddenly it all makes sense. I can 'read' a page in a few seconds. And I have to finish a book in one sitting, or I simply can't remember the story of what I previously read. So with the 'skip reading' and the 'have to finish it all in one go', I can easily read three books a day! And then immediately remember nothing about them. Ask me about a book I read yesterday and I'll be lucky if I can remember the character names.
